Adult coloring pages to print are ready to download with just the click of the mouse. Can you imagine, 3, 2, even 100 years ago? I know we're just talking coloring books here, but it's always amazed me, comparing then and now and how far we've come. Technology has touched nearly every area of our lives; and depending on who you ask, for the better.
Did you know that until the early 1900's, adult coloring pages were only for the elite? Besides the high cost of these books and what it took to create them, so were the utensils and watercolor in which to color them.
...and were initially published for adults, not children!
Up until the late 1800's, these books were referred to as "painting books" because the crayon had not yet been invented and watercolor was the only available method of coloring. In fact, it wouldn't be until 1902, that the Crayola Crayon was invented, although it didn't become as popular as it is today until the 1960's.
It wouldn't take long until coloring books for children came to fruition. As well as other forms of coloring utensils such as the colored pencil and chalk.
It was about 2012, the very first adult coloring book was sold on Amazon. And sales never slowed down. Then and today millions of adults use coloring books as a non-invasive, non-medicinal form of meditation. And today, you can download to print and then color with just a click of the mouse!
Art therapy. While adult coloring books do help with anxiety, and are a way to calm down, and collect your thoughts - 'art therapy' is a whole different animal and can only be done successfully when practiced with a therapist.
If you plan to color with dry media only, such as colored pencils, pastels, crayons, or chalk pencils, a light cardstock is probably all you need. A 65 lb cardstock works in pretty much any printer, even those without a flat feed, and is very affordable. Get more tips here.
Personally I have found with adult coloring pages’ an inner peace that's hard to find anywhere else. The repetitious thoughts instantaneously wain. And before you know it, your worries are no longer a big deal. While not 'art therapy,' coloring pages are good for the soul and in my [therapists too] opinion, they're one more tool in your Mental Health Toolbox!

I think variety is exciting, and most importantly…fun! I am proud to work alongside these incredible fellow colorists’ and am excited to see their new books as they are released!
Because adult coloring pages have the longevity to back them, we can officially stop referring to them as a trend, they are definitely here to stay!
